Summer of Victory: Interlude #21
Shadowfall There is no rhyme or reason to their movement and she wondered how such creatures were able to exist in their formless state. She had seen the shadow wells out of which they spawned but the sight of them moving across the dark forest never ceases to amaze her. She watches as thousands of the creatures blot out the ground as they flow like a dark wave across the Dim Forest. Gripping her flail tightly, she stands up from the ground and moves across the rooted earth until she is standing at a particular spot. The grace of her movements and the lightness of her feet make her travel extremely silent. Even though no enemy is visible, it does not mean an enemy is not standing nearby. This war in the Dim is a war of silent and hidden moves. No one does that better then her people. By their nature they blend into the dark places. Still, the people here were putting up a stiff fight and that was holding up the progress of her current patron. Soon though, with the joining of this battle, their resistance will become nothing but ashes in a strong wind. Standing by her particular tree she waits for the last Shadow to go by and then conjures a globe of darkness, blocking a series of magical lights from view. That is the signal for her fellows to join with her. A moment later figures begin emerging from the shadows surrounding the trees. One moment there is nothing and the next warriors of the dark places begin forming groups under the eternal gloom of the Dim's canopy. After a few moments of silently organizing themselves a male walks over to where she still stands. With a wave of his hand he dismisses the darkness. "We have eluded their scouts, yes?" He asks, leaning against a nearby tree. "Yes we have. They do not know of our true location." She responds. "Excellent." The male smiles. "Take the western force to where we agreed. I shall take the other. Gods steer your path." Without a nod or even an acknowledgement, the two part their ways and seek out their respective groups.
Many miles away, a man sits in front of a war table. In front of him is a mock up of the Dim Forest and its current disposition of forces. He notices that the two rivals are far too far away to support one another, should a disaster occur. The man sighs and sits back. This displeases him. This displeases him greatly.
